Waiting, Remembering (Version 2)

Back in October, I took a class called Body-Ody-Audio, taught by Kristina Loring. The point of the class was to learn how to make "sensorial, visceral audio": audio that makes people FEEL something in their body when they listen.

Our homework one week was to create a one-minute piece using field recording. It was supposed to convey an emotionally impactful event from our week…without any talking. For my piece, I tried to convey the feeling of waiting to hear back about something that I really cared about. I was stuck in this cycle of thinking about it, and trying not to, over and over again.

In this episode, you’ll hear the second version of the piece that I created. I made it by mixing together "Version 1" with the original three one-minute-long voice memos of just the sound of my breathing, plus singing bowls played by Mandy Hamilton.
